Remarks & Notes |
An RJ Corman crew uses battered NS power to load at the National Coal Baldwin coal prep plant. The New River plant currently loads one unit train a week destined for Georgia Power and should begin loading more soon. National Coal bought the Tennessee RR from NS several years back and mainains the 42 mile long branch from Oneida to the plant, using RJ crews that run the unit trains from the NS main in Oneida and back. The loaded trains have to be broken down into thirds on the return trip just short of Oneida to make it over a steep grade, then rebuilt and handed off to NS for the trip south. |
