| At one time both the SAL and the Southern (Built as the the Elberton Air Line served the town of Elberton, known as the Granite Capitol of the World. The Elberton Air line track through town fell into disuse and was abandoned after the line was leased the Hartwell RR, which under the terms of the lease was prohibited from interchanging with CSX. The Southern tracks once ran directly behind the depot and ties and spikes can still be found on the ROW. Meanwhile the former SAL is still relatively busy as evidenced by this northbound Q698. |
