This was a Christmas Eve present that the BN received courtesy of vandals in my hometown of Oswego, IL. Three of four SD9s derailed when the "mainline" half of the crossover switch was thrown reverse, causing the units to derail off the end of track at the south end of town. My parents home was only about 200 yards from the tracks several blocks north of this location. I woke up in the middle of the night when the train was placed in emergency and the slack ran-in with a crash but did not realize what happened until Christmas Day. The following day, the scene was being assessed by BN officials before clean-up began.
