Originally operated by the Southern Pacific Railroad, San Francisco Peninsula Commute service trains have been powered by 4-6-2s, 4-8-2s, 4-8-4s, FP7s, SD7s, H-24-66 "Train Masters", GP9s, SD9s, SDP45s, GP40P-2s, leased Amtrak P30CHs and, under CalTrans / CalTrain, F40PH-2s and MP36PH-3Cs (among others).
