Remarks & Notes |
CSXT 5108 drages 148 loads of coal east through the 102' Wasp Rock Tunnel just east of Buchanan on the James River Subdivision. This tunnel was bored in 1880 and originial used by the James River and Kanawha Canal which only extended as far west as Buchanan. Planes were made and structures were built west of Buchanan but the canal never made it. The canal company also bored the 189' Little Tunnel just nine miles west of here. Today the railroad uses both tunnels for there main line. Canon EOS 50D |
