Still Standing. This stretch of the former Boston & Albany dates to September 1834. While this granite mile marker likely isn't that old, it undoubtedly has occupied this spot since the steam era, when similar markers were once common over the length of the B&A. Across the track sits downtown Ashland, with the old B&A depot (now occupied by a medical practice) being the farthest visible building. |
