Grand Trunk Western No. 5632, plinthed in Durand Michigan, is a K-4-b class 4-6-2 Pacific built in 1929 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works. While it's appearance suffers by being shorn of it's jacketing, we can be grateful the harmful asbestos is gone and the locomotive is clean, shiny and very presentable. A most handsome locomotive.
As a side note, the reader should know that five years, a builder (ALCo), a class designation letter, (a) and three digits separate No. 5632 from ill-fated GTW No. 5629. In an appalling turn of events, that locomotive was scrapped in 1987 in Chicago by Metra in a dispute with it's owner. No. 5632 gives us a good idea of what beauty we lost.
