In order to keep up the car counts in BNSF's unit grain trains, spare cars must be kept along the line to replace bad-ordered cars. These units left their train a ways down the track to pick up some spares at the yard in Marshall. In a few short moments the covered hopper used to frame this shot will be joined with the rest of the unit train and continue on East.
Photographer's Note: This shot was taken next to, not underneath, a tied down, secured hopper car with the permission of the RR. Do not attempt to stand this close to any active cuts of cars!
