Soo 2225A,737,502C thunder westbound through Caffey with 94 cars on train 911. The crews preferred second generation hood units for leaders, but on this day 2225A was picked up at Trout Lake for added power on this heavy train. Rather than cut off the SD40 and F7B that had powered the train out from Sault Ste. Marie and have to recharge the trainline on this bitterly cold day, the crew simply added 2225A to the point. All of the Soo F7A/F3A's lacked nose MU connections so were restricted to either leading or trailing in consists. The line side telegraph poles are still along the right of way, but telegraph service had ended a few years before this photo and the wires were slowly coming down in some areas.
