| STREET RUNNING! NYS&W UT-1 heads north along Schuyler Street in Utica. The roughly one-half mile of street running in this city has been a treat to witness for many years. Gone are the days of NYS&W Alcos pulling dome-observation cars up and down this scenic line; however, one can still catch the lone GP40 assigned to Utica doing the occasional honors. Major customers on the Utica line include Smurfit-Stone Container in New Hartford and grain elevators in Sangerfield. Here, the locomotive is seen running light (away from the photographer) as it heads back to Utica after dropping cars. |
