Remarks & Notes |
The Merivale Bridge 'Cross River Link' spanning the Brisbane River and linking the Northern and Southern Railway Networks was one of the most notable milestones in Brisbane's railway history when it opened on November 18, 1978. In this photo, AC16 221A 'The Yank' puffs across the Merivale Bridge with the first Steam Train Sunday service from Roma Street to Roma Street via South Brisbane, Sherwood and Normanby. This is commonly referred to as 'The Big Circle.' |
