| Virgin 'Thunderbird' Superpower.
Class 57 57312 'The Hood' + Class 57 57313 'Tracy Island' drag the 1B14 0826 Wolverhampton - London Euston Virgin Pendelino Service Class 390 023 'Virgin Glory' between Birmingham New St and Nuneaton during engineering work on the Birmingham New St - Rugby line.
Dellner couplings were fitted to the Virgin Class 57/3 fleet of locomotives to allow easy connection to Virgin Class 390 Pendolinos and Virgin Class 221 Voyager units in case of failures, diversions, breakdowns or emergencies. Virgin Trains have taken the convention of calling locomotives employed for rescue duties 'Thunderbirds' one step further by naming their Class 57 fleet after characters from the television series.
