Remarks & Notes |
A rare sight in the late 90's was a FP9 leading a freight train. The ACR group of 7 A's and 2 B-units often found themselves in freight service during periods of slack passenger service on the ACR. As the old F's became more problematic they spent most of their time pulling freights between Sault Ste. Marie and the Gladstone-Escanaba area. As with later day Soo Line F-unit operation the WC crews that worked with these units normally tried to bury them in consists. On one of those rare occasions that I caught one leading a train, the 1753 leads WC 6590,6619 with 68 loads of Ladysmith and Tilden ore just east of Rudyard. |
