Remarks & Notes |
A call the previous evening had alerted us to this train being powered by a pair of F's. The F's had languished in storage most of the summer and were supposedly not to be ran again. Somehow this pair was restarted and made one more trip to Hearst and back. As we waited for the train, clouds were moving in fast from the SW and as train time came and went it appeared we were not going to get a sunny photo. Finally a horn to the north could be heard in the distance and the F's came cruising by us about 5 minutes before the sun went behind the clouds for the rest of the evening. Last trip? Well it was the last passenger assignment but this pair made two more trips from Sault Ste. Marie, ON to Gladstone in freight service and then they were parked for good joining their sisters behind Steelton Shop. CN bought the WC about a month later and the F's were on the way to Woodcrest for disposition by Christmas. On this bright fall afternoon as they have done so many times AC 1755,1756 work train 2 south. |
