Remarks & Notes
across the Kiel Canal
This two class 218 locos were pulling a InterCity train to Frankfurt a. M. over the Hochdonn viaduct while a little ship is heading for Kiel on the Kiel Canal. The Hochdonn viaduct has a total lengt of 2,218m and was build from 1913 to 1920. It replaced a swing-bridge. The Kiel Canel is the most heavily used artificial seaway in the world. Over 43,000 ships passed through in 2007, excluding small craft.
