Remarks & Notes |
Leeudoringstad (lion thorns town), so named by early settlers for a dense thicket of acacia thorn trees in the area that was a stronghold for predators stalking their prey on the surrounding plains. Passenger operator Shosholoza Meyl's 1st class only "Tourism" from Cape Town, passes through behind a single class 6E1 en route to Klerksdorp and Johannesburg. The first vehicle behind the locomotive is an oil-fired steam generator car that provides heating for the train. |
