An interesting geological feature in Weber Canyon called 'Devil's Slide' is composed of twin hard, weather-resistant limestone layers about 40 feet high, 25 feet apart, and several hundred feet in length. This feature (visible along the lower half of the hillside, at left) has it's own view area along I-84 and was utilized to name a passing siding along UP's Evanston Subdivision. Here a pair of EMD's ease a 110 car North Platte-West Colton manifest down the river canyon toward Ogden. Trackage in the foreground leads to the big Ashgrove cement plant at Croyden.
