Remarks & Notes
Once touted as "the shortest commercially operated railway in the world" when it portaged the ridge between Peninsula Lake and Lake of Bays the Huntsville and Lake of Bays Railway now runs its "Portage Flyer" tourist operation out of the Muskoka Heritage Place up a scenic stretch of the Muskoka River to Fairy Lake. Here Charlie the brakeman prepares to alight in order to throw a switch entering the station at the Heritage Place so the engine can run around for the next ride.
