Remarks & Notes

The small station and passing loop at Yamenmaio just north of Lindong was a favorite because the northbound passenger called here just after sunrise, and the southbound passenger just before sunset. Moreover it was one of the few remaining stations with semaphores. Here two freights with four engines meet just as the sun comes up while we were waiting for the morning passenger. Nitty gritty railroading the way it used to be.....sixty years ago here, five years ago there. Last steam on the Jitong was December 2005. Not a bad way to start the day.
