Train DC-8 is kicking up some serious dust as it approaches Diann tower at 50+ MPH! The head brakeman, seeing a red order board and sporting a sturdy glove, has his arm hanging out of the cab window and is ready to snag train orders off the "iron man." Northbound trains were almost always "pushing" the speed limit by Diann tower and the hogger on 406 was certainly guilty of that. Just north of the interlocking, the maximum authorized speed increased from 45 to 60 MPH, but most trains were already running close to 60 by the time the engines passed the tower!
My favorite railroad when I was young and even today. When I was growing up I can remember seeing these big orange beasts lumbering around the Jackson shops and yard.
