Remarks & Notes |
SD70MAC 4004 and two sisters on the headend and 3 on the rear have this coal train easily in hand at Windy Point along Turnagain Arm. In the background is the Kenai Peninsula. All this power doesn't appear to be necessary but in about 40 miles the serious work will begin with the 3% climb of Grandview Hill. The 3+3 configuration is a relatively new setup. This setup allowed the Alaska Railroad to discontinue doubling Grandview Hill. |
