It is always worth heading North of Anchorage on the Alaska Railroad. The scenery from Hurricane to Fairbanks is spectacular. Although the day had held great promise with sunshine early by the time the NB Denali Star crossed Riley Creek Trestle the clouds had moved in. Still managed to catch a bit of a rainbow and the start of some fall colors.
Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.
