Buenos Aires al Pacifico's ALCo. RSD16 #8509 charges with a train of empty coal gondolas through the boundaries of the San Justo station, 5 kilometres away from the junction of the branch with the D. F. Sarmiento's mainline at Haedo. Number 8509 began life in early 1958 as #4624, newly built by ALCo.'s Schenectady Plant and assigned to operate in the D. F. Sarmiento Railroad till 1969, when was transfered to the General San Martin Railroad. But after almost a 25 years absence from his original owner's rails, the beginning of private operation of Argentina's railroads in the early nineties allowed the old ALCo's a new chance to be back in home rails once more.
