An incredible lashup of 19 UP locomotives head east through Echo Canyon at Emory, Utah. This light engine move which originated at Stockton, California would terminate at East North Platte, Nebraska. The trailing 16 units were pulled from storage pending a return to active service on the Union Pacific roster. Represented in the group are GE C40-8, C40-8W, C41-8W and EMD SD60M units all of which were about 20 years old.
There are times when many engines, cars or cabooses are concentrated in a location. Such sites are for storage, economic reasons, active power needs or for rebuilding. For others, wear and tear have brought their usefulness to and end.
An attempt to put the best picture of engines that represent each of America's railroads. When a better picture of an engine/type is found, it will be added.
