| Two weeks before my 16th birthday, I was still operating on my bicycle (or "wheel" as we called them) when I captured this powerful scene of NS 3261 working the 2nd shift industry switcher around Roanoke. I believe this image portrays the excellence and classiness of the high-hooded SD40, and the fact that it was scanned from a Kodachrome slide is both fitting and appropriate. Also worth noting are the great bunch of "old heads" who worked this job. They were very tolerant of my following them all over town and tagging along half the places they went. |
