Rocking to-and-fro on heavy rail that once carried coal, iron ore. and finished steel, Union Pacific's LJL41 local from Provo climbs a short hill into Pleasant Grove, Utah. Prior to 1985, this track served as Union Pacific's mainline between Provo and Salt Lake City. Today it sees traffic on Friday mornings only between Lakota Junction and Lehi. The LJL41's 11 car train is powered by a well matched pair of RCL GP38-2's, built by EMD for the Missouri Pacific in 1980.
