Remarks & Notes |
C&NW M-2 0-6-0 2157 and a diesel near the 40th Street yard office. Of course I concentrated on photographing 2157 and hardly glanced at one of the rarest diesel locomotives ever built! This was Baldwin DR 6-2-10 No. 5000-A, a passenger unit that normally would have had two 1000hp 606SC 6 cylinder diesel engines. This one had one diesel and the space for the other one was built as a baggage compartment. It was built in November 1948 and was retired in 1958. This was a one of a kind offering; C&NW bought the only one built! |
