| Soo 747, 808 power a heavy 138 car train 912 near Gilchrist. There was a lot of lumber on the head end of this train that was to be routed to St. Ignace and then Via the Chief Wawatum to Michigan Northern at Mackinaw City. So many cars were already at Trout Lake waiting to be moved toward the Chief that some of these cars on this train moved further east to Rudyard and then were hauled back to Trout Lake when room was available. Operational problems like this caused the Soo no end of grief during this time period and they were no doubt glad to see this traffic dry up as the Soo/CP Rail's primary concern at the time was increasing COFC traffic between Schiller Park and Montreal. |
