After six days of rain, Christmas Eve 2010 was bright and sunny in southern California. To the chagrin of railfans, however, the railroads were not very active - Even Metrolink was running their reduced holiday schedule. Fortunately, Amtrak maintains the same schedule, although "Pacific Surfliner" #565 is running exactly 30 minutes late on its way from San Diego to Los Angeles as it accelerates from the station stop in Orange, California with fresh snow on the San Gabriel Mountains for a backdrop.
