Remarks & Notes |
A new motive power era on the Utah Railway has begun with the delivery of 11 rebuilt and painted SD40's from Morrison Knudsen in Boise, Idaho. Here a nicely matched set of four lead a Wattis to IPP coal load down Rio Grande's double track mainline in Spanish Fork Canyon. The eleven SD40's in this series were leased from MK for 10 years. They would be replaced by the MK5000C's (now MK50-3's) currently working on the Utah Railway. Scanned from a 35mm Kodachrome 25 transparency. |
