Remarks & Notes |
With only 8.5 miles of track, welcome Southern Switching Company (SSC) to Railpictures.net. The entire roster is shown here doing the first job of the morning. These two rare units haven't been separated as they changed hands. SSC 1865 was built 3/43 builder #2385 as US Navy 65-00034/ US Army 1865/ RSSM (rail security sensitive materials) 1865 to SSC. SSC 1866 was built in 3/42 builder #1922 US Navy 65-00035/ US Army 1866/ RSSM 1866 to SSC. These are two of only five NW2's the Navy had. After serving the military together all those years, they now work quietly in Abilene and seem to be in good mechanical order.
