Another look back to July 2008 and The Great Reunion at the National Railway Museum at York. On that day, as a one-off, all four remaining UK-based A4 streamliners were assembled together. This was the first time for over 40 years that such a sight was possible. Here we see 60009 Union of South Africa, 60019 Bittern, 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley and 4468 Mallard, the fastest steam locomotive in the world, having reached 126mph in July 1938, 70 years earlier. On this shot, you can see the true colours of the locos and the pouring rain, which accompanied the event!
For the train and storm chaser. Trains with thunderstorms, dark clouds, rain, lightning, hurricanes - tropical storms, funnel clouds, storm light, rainbows, and snow storms.
