Remarks & Notes |
Train Time The ARR's nightly Anchorage to Fairbanks through freight is built and set on track 1 in the yard and ready for an air test. Shortly after 8 PM the two SD70s and lone GP40-2 will lead the 86 car train stretching just over a mile in length out of the yard and on 356 mile journey through the Alaskan wilderness. The varied consist trailing out behind the train should dispel any notion that the ARR is only a "unit train" railroad. The mixed freight came from a weekly connection by barge with the UP and BNSF in Seattle. Note: the photographer is a railroad employee with permission to be on the property and was wearing all required PPE while taking this photograph. |
