Track conditions at the end of the Good Spring Secondary, west of Good Spring, where CR served a coal tipple were very interesting. Ballast, other than cinders and coal dust, was non-existent. Timber wasn't much better. Operations were conducted at what seemed to be walking speed. It was for good reason. On May 12, 1988 westbound train WHWC-21 eases through the switch leading to the coal load out. The empties have been left at a siding just to the east. Loads would be pulled and taken east, then they would return with the empties.
