Remarks & Notes
A westbound C&O empty hopper train from Newport News was entering the east end of Fulton Yard at Darbytown interlocking in Richmond, VA on April 24, 1982. Note the well sanded appearance of eastbound No. 2 track to the right. C&O loaded coal trains had it easy following the James River from Clifton Forge to Richmond. That momentarily ended at Fulton Yard. Eastbound coal trains required a pusher from Fulton Yard to Fort Lee, about five miles, where they again gained favorable grades to Newport News.
