| The winter of 1976-77 was one of the worst ones on record in Upper Michigan with lots of snow and wind. This shot has Soo train 912 working its way east with 503A leading Soo's lone F3B, 2200C and 108 cars a couple miles west of Trout Lake. A plow train had worked east the previous evening and was waiting at Trout Lake for a meet with 912. Notice the snow height nearly to the roof line of the building to the right of 503A. Wind had piled up a tremendous drift near that building although snow depth was well over 4 feet in most areas that were not drifted. Yes I was on a snowmobile for this shot! |
