Remarks & Notes |
Between the cities of Cologne and Aachen in Germany, there are several open-cast mines where coal is extracted. This coal is used to power several power plants in the region. RWE Power operates a railway network between these mines and power plants to transport the coal. In this picture RWE loco 504 is heading back to the mine Hambach for a new load of coal as it passes a field in Bergheim-Thorr. The suspended power-lines come from the power plant Niederaussem that is also fed by these trains. |
