Remarks & Notes |
By 1987 it was becoming a real problem to get many shots of Soo trains in Upper Michigan, for one thing there weren't many of them. The schedule of running eastbound into Sault Ste. Marie near daybreak and then having the crew book rest normally resulted in a late afternoon/evening westbound out of Soo Yard. The WC sale was increasing looking likely so I made efforts to get some of these trains that would have been unheard of only a couple years earlier. In this case I had gotten up at the usual "0 dark hundred" and made my way into Northern Wisconsin to get good light on an eastbound. I wasn't particularly thrilled when I seen a couple "bandits" leading the way! All in all not a bad deal though as these Ex Milw. GP20's didn't last long on the Soo and very rarely were found in the Gladstone-Sault Ste. Marie areas. 957,963.717 work 33 cars east on train 11 at Armstrong Creek. |
