I must admit, I took every opportunity to view RF&P 250 ton wreck derrick No. 1 when it was being used. It didn't get used often, but when it did, I tried to be there. Still, being steam powered, it was a blast to watch. Each time it made a lift, a huge cloud of steam would erupt from the top. The night before, No. 105 had derailed a few cars when making a set off at Fredericksburg. A wreck train was called at Acca to come north and clear the small derailment. The No. 1 was retired in 1980.
