"Calm after the storm". On the peaceful evening of April 16th, 2011, a pair of Norfolk Southern ES44AC's lug 839 up hill through Shawsville, VA on their way back to the coal fields of West Virginia. Severe storms had ripped through the Roanoke Valley earlier in the day bringing heavy rain and funnel clouds. In result of the heavy rain, Roanoke was flooded in parts and caused major damage. The neat clouds are the only remainder of the front at this time; better weather is in forecast for the next day.
For the train and storm chaser. Trains with thunderstorms, dark clouds, rain, lightning, hurricanes - tropical storms, funnel clouds, storm light, rainbows, and snow storms.
