Remarks & Notes |
During the later 70's into the 80's at LaCrosse, the BN had a pair of hot westbound TOFC/COFC trains that normally arrived right around sunset. These were trains 3(to Seattle) and 13(to Portland) and they were usually powered with the newest power on the system. Train 3 was the leader most evening followed closely by 13. In this view we see train 3 slowing for the Grand Crossing tower and after pounding over the Milwaukee Road diamonds the the 3145 will come to rest by the North LaCrosse yard office for a quick crew change. Standard BN power for these hot trains were GP50's, B30-7A along with fuel tenders and tonight's train is no disappointment as 3145 leads a FT along with 4055,3152 and 29 cars into the last rays of sun. |
