Remarks & Notes |
On a cold bright Feb. afternoon WC train LO-41 works the yard at Trout Lake. The WC was struggling through its first winter and power assignments were somewhat scrambled up. The two ex Soo GP30's 706 and 715 are spliced by ex BN SD45 6498. The Ex DSS&A line from Trout Lake west to Marquette was normally four axle territory but with WC power short and the ground frozen like rock it was decided that the SD could safely work the 80lbs jointed rail to Marquette although the crew was instructed NOT to used the SD on any side or industry track. So every stop required one of the 30's to be cut off to work the sidings or enough cars had to be kept with the power to keep the SD on the "main". |
