'Duke of Gloucester' powers through the glorious Yorkshire Dales towards Gargrave Station in characteristically fine style. The 'Cumbrian Mountain Express' is becoming a regular fixture (thank heavens) in the enthusiasts' calendar. Unhappily for me, the one cloud in an otherwise sun-filled day chose its moment to coincide with the passage of the Duke. Nonetheless I'm really pleased that (just for once) the exhaust lifted clear of the chimney! I tried to 'chase' the train beyond Settle, but the usual 'critical need detectors' kicked in, learner drivers, tractors, traffic lights - you know the score! The photograph was taken from private farmland with permission.
