| First Passenger Train in Pottsville Since 1983! Reading & Northern's 2000 reverses into the new Union Station Transportation Center to celebrate the grand opening. The station will be primarily used for bus service and office space. The city of Pottsville laid a new track for possible excursions on Reading & Northern. This was the first passenger train in Pottsville since an excursion in 1983. The last regularly scheduled passenger train to Pottsvile was on June 30, 1981 when SEPTA ended commuter train service north of Norristown to Reading and Pottsville.
