Remarks & Notes |
Deseret Ry's afternoon loaded coal train is slowly grinding up the grade at mp 4.5 toward the railroad's high point, Holum Pass who's summit is only about 1/2 mile ahead. The 3 E60 motors are pulling hard on this 44 car, 7200 ton train. If this was a diesel powered train the passage would be accompanied by lots of loud noise from the engines, but these electrics emit only a steady low humming sound. A very wet and cool spring has western Colorado and eastern Utah looking uncharacteristically green for late June. |
