Remarks & Notes
Among the numerous exhibits at the N.R.M. in York is this lovingly restored class 76 electric. Originally known as class EM1,the 58 locos of this type, built in 1948, worked trains on the 1500 volts D.C. electrified line between Manchester and Sheffield. The locos were renumbered as class 76 under the early 1970s T.O.P.S. system.
