just like a model railroad this is what happens when you pull with too much power on a sharp curve. The phenomenum is called "stringlining or straight lining". The MWARBAR had been separated at a crossing while waiting for a signal at CP Sepulveda on the Alameda Corridor Sub in So California, when the train got the signal they backed up to put the train back togather but the engineer started pulling before the brakes on the cars coupled to had a chance to fully release causing this mishap. Eight cars in this photo derailed as well as another six behind these. |
