The Ferndale Turn heads south along the Bellingham Bay waterfront with a trio of EMD's the first two of which are showing their age. The Ferndale Turn gathered cars from the locals working the Cherry Point Branch and the Bellingham Switcher. This tonnage, consisting mostly loads, was assembled north of Bellingham and hauled south to Everett with work along the way as needed. At Everett, this train was exchanged for another consisting mostly of empties and the process was reversed heading back north. The lead two units, GP35 # 2504 & GP9 # 1853 are getting rather "long in the tooth" at this late era on BN's roster but they're still quite capable of generating revenue for their owner.
