Due to severe midwest river flooding over the spring and summer of 1993, and unprecedented number of detours througout the region became necessary. One of these was SP's train ESDAT, which normally ran from East Saint Louis southward on UP's Chester Sub. This day, the train ran as ESDAD on BN's Cuba Sub toward southwest Missouri, with an ultimate destination of Dallas, TX. It is pulling into Stanton to meet a northbound SP train, PBASD. This line also saw trains from ATSF and GWWR using it when they could, as well as detoured BN trains from northern Missouri.
