OK, so I went out to take steam, but a combination of my crazy dog and an unruly grandson does not mix with great line-side steam photography! A dusting of overnight snow meant that even this humble DMU made an attractive image. The Lowry-esque backdrop of Bury adds to the scene. I STILL hate that awful blue livery though, a colour scheme that blighted our railways from 1964 onwards and now blights our streets with 'Arriva' buses having adopted the same sickly turquoise. Come back William Stroudley and Harry Wainwright - railwaymen who knew how to choose a PROPER livery!
